BROWNSBURG, Ind. (June 14, 2021) – The “Madman” Kerry Madsen has been quite the substitute for three-time NASCAR Cup Series champion and NASCAR Hall of Famer, Tony Stewart, continuing his campaign aboard the Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing/Rush Truck Centers/Advance Auto Parts/Curb Records/Ford Performance/Digital Ally/Sage Fruit/FloRacing/Absolute Automation and Security/Hunt Brothers Pizza/Mobil 1/Carquest Auto Parts/No. 14 sprint car with a pair of podium performances at the world-famous Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa, on Friday and Saturday, June 11-12. Impressive enough, Madsen led 40 feature laps during the Brownells Big Guns Bash doubleheader, leading the first 21 circuits on Friday before leading laps 6-24 the following evening.

Madsen kicked-off his weekend at the “Sprint Car Capital of the World” with a third-place finish on Friday, setting the tone early with heat race and dash victories which earned the St Marys, New South Wales, Australia-native the evening’s pole position, right alongside TSR teammate and ten-time WoO champion, Donny Schatz. As mentioned, Madsen led the first 21 circuits, losing control to eventual winner, Carson Macedo, at the entrance of turn one on lap 22. Shark Racing’s Logan Schuchart would also sneak by Madsen, punching through with two to go.

Unfortunately, Macedo would steal the spotlight from the Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing No. 14 again on Saturday, this time on lap 25 when the driver of the Jason Johnson Racing entry squeezed beneath Madsen at the exit of turn two. A slight slip out of the bottom groove is what allowed the door to open for Macedo, ending Madsen’s command which had been his since lap six; the Madman would go on to finish second.

“I just got tight and screwed it up,” Madsen acknowledged. “I have to apologize to this team. I should’ve brought that home. This thing is so fast, and so fun to drive. It’s all a testament to TSR as an organization.”

Tentatively, Kerry Madsen will continue his substitution for Tony Stewart with another busy weekend across the Midwest, turning his attention toward a World of Outlaws tripleheader at 34 Raceway on Thursday, June 17, Dubuque Fairgrounds Speedway on Friday, June 18, and Beaver Dam Raceway on Saturday, June 19.
