BROWNSBURG, Ind. (June 21, 2021) – Close to victory on multiple occasions aboard Tony Stewart’s Rush Truck Centers/Advance Auto Parts/Curb Records/Ford Performance/Digital Ally/Sage Fruit/FloRacing/Absolute Automation and Security/Hunt Brothers Pizza/Mobil 1/Carquest Auto Parts/J&J Auto Racing/No. 14 sprint car, the “Madman” Kerry Madsen finally got over the hurdle, earning a victory at the famed Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa, on Saturday, June 19. Occurring during weekly competition, Madsen’s win commenced from the outside of row two, earning the quick jump to second before taking command from Brian Brown on lap two.
To make the matter even more special, Tony Stewat was in attendance and was a participant in the Superstar Racing Experience (SRX) event that was held the same night; Stewart was victorious.
“The Knoxville track crew guys did a good job of getting the track turned around (after the SRX) and giving us a good track to race on,” said Madsen in Victory Lane. “I love these Ford engines. I’m just having a great time. This car with Ricky Warner wrenching it is such a fun car to drive. (Stewart) did remind me that a win was expected. When you have a car that good, you don’t have much pressure…you just drive it hard and see what it’s got.”
Prior to his Knoxville Raceway win, Madsen joined the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series during action at 34 Raceway and Dubuque Fairgrounds Speedway on Thursday and Friday, June 17-18; the Madman finished fourth and third, respectively, earning his podium from seventh on the grid.
Kerry Madsen will continue his substitution for Tony Stewart with a mega stretch through the upper Midwest, set to invade Huset’s Speedway for the Huset’s 50 doubleheader on Monday and Tuesday, June 21-22, followed by a 90-minute jaunt due east to Jackson Motorplex for the three-day Jackson Nationals on Thursday through Saturday, June 24-26. The Huset’s 50 finale will award a $30,000 top prize, with the Jackson Nationals finale awarding a $50,000 top prize.
In addition, a $100,000 bonus is on the line for any competitor who sweeps both finales at the Huset’s 50 on June 22 and Jackson Nationals on June 26, giving one driver the chance to cash in for more than $180,000 in just a matter of days.
