BROWNSBURG, Ind. (October 12, 2020) – Ten-time World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series champion, Donny Schatz, kept his season rolling in the right direction with another stout performance in Pennsylvania Posse Country, this time finishing no worse than 11th during the two-day Nittany Showdown at Port Royal Speedway on Friday and Saturday, October 9-10. Schatz, a former Nittany Showdown winner at the “Speed Palace,” highlighted his weekend in Central Pennsylvania with a seventh-place outing during the Friday night opener; he started fifth.
Ultimately qualifying for the evening’s dash, Schatz, driver of the Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing/Advance Professional/Carquest Auto Parts/Technet Professional Automotive Service/Ford Performance/Mobil 1/Sage Fruit/Curb Records/Absolute Automation & Security/Hunt Brothers Pizza/Digital Ally/J&J Auto Racing/No. 15 sprint car, kicked-off his Friday night at Port Royal with the fastest qualifying time in Flight A, following that act with a win during his respective heat race. Schatz’ near-perfect evening continued with a fifth-place finish during the evening’s dash, soon followed by his aforementioned seventh-place feature result.
Although unable to match his Friday night outcome, the Fargo, North Dakota-native managed to put together another impressive performance and eventually rallied from 16th to finish 11th during the $15,000-to-win Nittany Showdown finale. A fourth-place result during his Saturday night heat race secured his place in the weekend’s final A-Main.
Trailing the World of Outlaws championship lead by a mere 68 markers, Donny Schatz and Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing will continue their 2020 campaign with a two-day trip through Kansas and Missouri on Friday and Saturday, October 16-17. The Greatest Show On Dirt will visit Lakeside Speedway in Kansas City, Kansas, on Friday, followed by the second annual Jason Johnson Classic at Lake Ozark Speedway in Eldon, Missouri, on Saturday. The weekend pair will award a total winner’s share equaling $25,000; $10,000 on Friday and $15,000 on Saturday.
Donny Schatz will enter the Kansas/Missouri double third in the World of Outlaws championship standings padded by five Series victories in 2020, two of which amounting to $100,000; the $25,000 Silver Cup at Lernerville and the $75,000 National Open at Williams Grove Speedway.
