2020 World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series Championship Standings: 5596 points | Third (92-points behind championship leader, Brad Sweet)
BROWNSBURG, Ind. (September 21, 2020) – Donny Schatz’ stretch of consistency continued through the recent weekend, this time knocking out back-to-back top-ten finishes during visits to Oklahoma and Texas on Friday and Saturday, September 18-19. The ten-time World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series champion finished sixth during each of his weekend outings, advancing one position after starting seventh on each feature grid. The Greatest Show On Dirt visited Lawton Speedway in Lawton, Oklahoma, on Friday, and the historic Devil’s Bowl Speedway in Mesquite, Texas, on Saturday.
With all results considered, Schatz, driver of the Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing/Advance Professional/Carquest Auto Parts/Technet Professional Automotive Service/Ford Performance/Mobil 1/Sage Fruit/Curb Records/Absolute Automation & Security/Hunt Brothers Pizza/Digital Ally/J&J Auto Racing/No. 15 sprint car, remains third in the World of Outlaws driver chase, now with 32 top-ten appearances in 42 starts. Schatz trails current Series point leader and defending champion, Brad Sweet, by 92 markers.
Five events in five days stand ahead for the Fargo, North Dakota-native beginning with two days of All Star Circuit of Champions action at Eldora Speedway on Tuesday and Wednesday, September 22-23. The first-ever Governors Reign will highlight action at The Big E awarding $10,000 on Tuesday and $52,000 on Wednesday.
Immediately following his Eldora visit, Schatz will resume World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series competition with three consecutive starts at Plymouth Speedway in Plymouth, Indiana, Wayne County Speedway in Orrville, Ohio, and Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, Pennsylvania, on Thursday through Saturday, September 24-26. All three programs will award $10,000 top prizes.
Although he has yet to visit Plymouth and Wayne County in 2020, Schatz is certainly familiar with Western Pennsylvania’s Lernerville Speedway, most recently scoring a $25,000 payday during the annual Silver Cup in mid-July.
