Overview:
- The WoO NOS Energy Drink Sprint Cars iRacing Invitational is an exhibition esports event featuring current series drivers and a select group of NASCAR Cup Series participants.
- The WoO NOS Energy Sprint Car Series iRacing Invitational Series is a multi-event series created to provide competition while the motorsports world is on hiatus due to efforts to combat the spread of the coronavirus.
- The esports event format for the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Sprint Car iRacing Invitational will include a driver’s meeting and hotlaps, which are 10-15 minutes of group practice. Single-car qualifying (time trials) determines where competitors start in the heat races, which are a series of 8-12 laps races that determine which cars will move on to the Feature, D-Main, C-Main, and Last Chance Showdown (LCS). The top-three cars in the heats transfer to the Feature when there are six heat races. The balance of the non-transferring cars from the heat races get divided into D, C and LCS based on heat race finish (4th in Heat 1 starts on pole of LCS, 4th in Heat 2 starts second in LCS, etc.). The top 4 finishers from the D-main event (10 laps) transfer to the C-main (12 laps). The top 4 finishers in the C-main start the LCS from the last row. The top 6 drivers in the 14 lap LCS (laps can change depending on track size) will transfer to the back of the feature lineup. The feature event is the final race of the night and ranges from 25 to 40 laps (predetermined at driver’s meeting) and determines the event champion.

Chase Briscoe, driver of the No. 5 #BuiltFordProud/Huffy Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing winged sprint car:
“I’m really looking forward to the race at Williams Grove and to getting the No. 5 #BuiltFordProud / Huffy car on the track. I’ve raced at Williams Grove quite a bit in iRacing and I think that experience will help, since it’s one of the more technical tracks on the platform, with the tight corners and long straights. It will be fun jumping back into a dirt car, after racing a lot of NASCAR events recently. The cars drive totally different, but it’s really no different than going back and forth between the two in real life. It will also be great to get back out there with some of my buddies who are full-time World of Outlaws drivers. I’ve competed with them a lot on the actual track, most recently at Tri-State Speedway in Indiana in 2018. This should be exciting.”
- Briscoe has been participating in a variety of iRacing events in recent weeks, finishing second his most recent WoO NOS Energy Sprint Car Series iRacing event and a win in the NBCSN #NASCAR iRacing Short Track Challenge.
- Briscoe will compete in Tuesday’s event as part of Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing (TSR), which is the entity owned by Stewart-Haas Racing co-owner, Tony Stewart.
- TSR fields winged sprint car entries for 10-Time WoO NOS Energy Sprint Car Series champion Donny Schatz as well as Stewart.
- Since the team’s inception in 2001 TSR has collected 26 short-track racing titles, including nine in the WoO NOS Energy Sprint Car Series and 17 in United States Auto Club (USAC) national divisions.
