BROWNSBURG, Ind. (September 9, 2019) – Growing into one of the premier sprint car events on the east coast, and quite possibly the United States, ‘Smoke’ Tony Stewart spent the recent weekend participating in Port Royal Speedway’s annual Tuscarora 50; a 50-lap showstopper featuring the All Star Circuit of Champions, as well as the world-famous Pennsylvania Posse, with a top prize equaling $52,000.
Despite an overall weekend outcome that lacked personal expectations, Tony Stewart’s trip to the Port Royal ‘Speed Palace’ did show some promise, ultimately qualifying for the 50-lap finale on Saturday night after transferring through the evening’s B-Main. There were over 50 cars in attendance with Stewart finishing 22nd during the evening’s feature.
Technically kicking-off his weekend at Port Royal Speedway with the $5,000-to-win ‘Night Before The Tuscarora 50’ preliminary, Smoke finished 12th during the 30-lap feature on Friday, September 6, and earned the right to start third after finishing in the exact same position during the evening’s dash. Unfortunately, that is not where the Columbus, Indiana-native stayed.
“Despite our outcome, the Tuscarora 50 is a premier event and we were thrilled to be a part of it,” Tony Stewart said, driver of the Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing/Rush Truck Centers/Toco Warranty/Ford Performance/Curb Records/Sage Fruit/Absolute Automation & Security/No. 14 sprint car. “Despite things not turning out how we wanted them to, we had a great trip to Pennsylvania. It’s amazing to see what Steve and his crew have been able to do at Port Royal over the last few seasons. I’m already excited for the opportunity to return.”
