BROWNSBURG, Ind. (June 4, 2018) – After a week away from open wheel competition, Tony Stewart made his return to the cockpit of the Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing/Rush Truck Centers/Textron Off Road/Ford Performance/Curb Records/Sage Fruit/No. 15 sprint car and entered a trio of United Sprint Car Series (USCS) Outlaw Thunder Tour programs in Alabama, Mississippi, and Arkansas, respectively, helping the 360c.i., winged sprint car series wrap-up their annual edition of Speedweek.
Stewart earned three top-five finishes during his three-race swing in the South, earning a pair of third place performances during his starts at Talladega (Ala.) Short Track and Magnolia (Miss.) Motor Speedway, followed up with a fifth place run on Saturday at Riverside (Ark.) International Speedway.
Stewart’s most impressive performance of the weekend took shape at Riverside. Dubbed “The Ditch,” Stewart charged six positions at the West Memphis-area venue, climbing from 11th on the feature grid to finish fifth at the final checkers.
Boosting his weekend performances, Stewart’s campaigns at Talladega and Magnolia each commenced with heat race victories. The Columbus, Ind., native now owns 18 top-ten finishes in 26 starts, 14 of which inside the top-five.
“It was a fun weekend for us. It was a great way to get out and visit three different tracks,” Stewart said. “We’ve been getting more and more comfortable and it shows with results like these. We get to join the All Stars for a pair of starts this weekend. Hopefully we can keep this streak of top-five finishes going.”
Up next on the schedule, Tony Stewart will join the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions presented by Mobil 1 for a trio of starts in the Empire State, first joining the self-owned organization at Outlaw Speedway in Dundee on Friday, June 8.
Stewart will continue his All Star weekend on Saturday, June 9, with a visit to the “New” Stateline Speedway near Jamestown, capping off the three-day swing on Sunday, June 10, when the three-time NASCAR Cup champion visits Weedsport Speedway in Weedsport.
All three All Star Circuit of Champions programs will award $5,000 top prizes.
“I’m really looking forward to next weekend. I’m really proud of our Series and excited to be able to compete against Chad (Kemenah), Dave (Blaney), Jac (Haudenschild), Aaron (Reutzel), Carson (Macedo), Paul (McMahan) and all of the full-time All Stars,” Stewart added about his upcoming New York trip. “We’ve got some great talent with us this year. I’m hoping I can challenge these guys for a win all weekend. We’ll definitely put a show on for the fans that come out.”
